How to get over your post Easter slump

Easter is a wonderful time to connect with family and friends but often it can be easy to fall into the trap of indulging in too much chocolate. If you’re feeling a little sorry for yourself after a big long weekend of treats, here’s how to get back on track.

  1. Fill your house back up with with goodness

We know the importance of eating well and there is a strong link between food and our mood. So fill your kitchen, your fridge, your pantry with all the goodness that will re-energise you - think lots of fresh fruit, vegetables, wholegrains, milk, yoghurt, cheese, lean proteins and good fats.

  2. Get moving

Exercise is our secret weapon when it comes to boosting our energy levels. You'll be surprised how much energy you have when you get moving and get the blood flowing around your body.

  3. Exit the eggs

It’s time to go, Easter eggs. Yep, if you really want to get back on track, say goodbye to your beloved Easter eggs. Donate them to a charity who will put them to good use or share them with a friend.

  4. Get rid of the grog

It’s easy to get into the habit of enjoying a few extra drinks on holidays but we know how damaging alcohol can be for our physical and mental health, and it can really dampen our motivation to get back into things. So get rid of the extra grog lying around and get back into your normal routine. Try to have a couple of alcohol free days every week and if you do choose to have a drink, savour it and enjoy it mindfully. Have a look at the Heart Foundation’s latest alcohol guidelines.
